Glasses Half Full of Laughter - Hope you like a happy ending!
Well, Christina and Fiona have stopped polishing their CVs, I have had some quality sleep and my wife isnβt afraid to talk to me. Even my son actually telephoned me - an achievement he has not managed to repeat since.
Those of you with long memories will recall I wrote about the problems of upgrading our website (Lost In Transition). Our main issue was that the βstep by stepβ system of adding your prescription lenses simply stopped working. The product pages became a mess. Glass half empty? We would have been happy to find a glass.
Iβm pleased and relieved to report that as of early February we solved the problem - although it took 2 months to finally get an acceptable system in place and tested. February had a surprise for us tooβ¦
Personally, I donβt think itβs as elegant as our old method - all of the options sit to the right of the product photos, whereas before they were hidden until you clicked the βAdd Prescription Lensesβ box. The counter to this is that some people didnβt see the box (absolutely no jokes about needing glasses). So in practical terms it is a visible and consistent improvement. What else? Well, our site is now vastly more mobile friendly, the shopping cart experience is much improved, we have been able to start adding product videos and I think overall its a fresher lookβ¦whilst still maintaining the style of our original site. Additionally the βCompareβ and βWishlistβ features - unlike on the old site - now actually work.
Of course, ultimately, the website isnβt for us - itβs for you, our customer, and that is the lens through which we filter our progress. And Iβm extremely pleased to say that we have just enjoyed our best February sales ever - so thank you, a huge fingers crossed that this vote of confidence continues - we are truly and sincerely grateful for it.
